FAQ's
1. I can buy this at [my local thrift store] for cheaper. Why are your prices so expensive?
Please do! We want everyone shopping second-hand! Our prices are higher than other thrift stores because we've taken the time to do deep research, verify product legitimacy, curate collections, deep clean and restore, pack and ship each product. We specialize in helping make second-hand products accessible to people who don't have time or don't enjoy the treasure hunt.
2. Reselling takes away quality products from people who need it. Why do you resell?
We believe this is a legitimate and reasonable concern. But what motivated us to start our store was the fact that there was a TON of high quality products sitting on the shelves of our local thrift store for weeks on end, and after 2 weeks the company would send the items to the landfill.
Many of the products we pick are less desirable because they need cleaning or restoring, and we have the time and knowledge to do that. Sadly, in the area that we live the supply largely out numbers the demand for second-hand and vintage and we're only putting a small (through hopefully meaningful) dent in the problem.
3. What is your view on using AI?
As a small, start-up business we have made the decision to use AI sparingly and thoughtfully. AI empowers us to do some things we otherwise would not have the time or resources to do. However, we're intentional with what tools we choose like Viro AI, which funds clean energy through in-chat ads and Ecosia which plants trees for every browser search. As we grow, we intent to continue to reduce and eventually eliminate our use of AI.
4. Isn't shipping products across the country unsustainable?
We offer local pick up, but also ship with a carbon neutral supplier throughout North America. We chose this route because when compared to buying new, the carbon footprint of shipping within North America still greatly outweighs the footprint of manufacturing a new product, oversees shipping of those products and it's eventual end of life.
